Xcode 7.1 installed but won't show up

I started the Xcode 7.1 update and it seems to have downloaded 4.5GB in the process.

App Store is now showing xcode 7.1 as part of "Updated Installed in the Last 30 days". However, when I open Xcode, it still shows 7.01. I checked files in Applications/Xcode and many files have latest timestamp (for example frameworks etc) so something seems to be updated.

I restarted Mac but no help. Strangely, now it shows Xcode 7.1 in both "Updates Available" and also in "Updated Installed in the Last 30 days". When I click Update, it again starts 4.3 GB download.

Any idea what's going on ?

Hey i am facing the same problem!

Now I am unable to develop my application since my iOS device has the new iOS 9.1 version installed. Everytime i want to deploy my app i get an error: "Xcode cannot run using the selected device." And my iOS devices (iPhone 6 + Applewatch) showing "uneligilbe". My development process seems to be paralyzed -.- very frustrating!!

I just don't understand why Apple can't let us download dmg ? or am I missing something?

I cannot reach download link like u said. It links to Mac App Store to download. Maybe downloading after delete Xcode works but file size is huge 🙂

I did what I said. I deleted Xcode. Download and installed again. It worked! I think this is the only solution.

You can download the .dmg but I'm still having issues it takes so long as described in other threads. Go to https://developer.apple.com/downloads/ while logged in.

Xcode 7.1 shows as an available update in the App Store, but every time I click on Update the button grays for about 20 seconds and then returns to normal still showing "Update". It seems that the update routine is crashing just a few seconds into the update.
