SMS/Call Reporting Extension Problems Since iOS 13.1.1

We are using the SMS/Call Reporting Extension in an app so users can report sms and calls as spam.
However, since 13.1.1, the extension has effectively become useless. There is a 5 to 10 second delay everytime the extension is called. It makes the UX basically impossible.


This is the same issue found here: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/126159 However, in that thread nobody has responded execept to say that they also have the same issue.


We actually created an entirely new app and recoded from scratch to see if there was some issue along the way on our end, but the issue arose again once we make the call and have to wait for the extension to respond. I've downloaded and tested other apps currently available in the App Store that use this same extension, and they also all have this same delay.


I believe a developer at Apple needs to go in and fix a bug or issue on their end. Any help, from anyone, is greatly appreciated! So if anybody knows who can troubleshoot this, or how to troubleshoot this, I would thank you immensely! 🙏🙏🙏

WWDC runs Mon, 22 Jun through to Fri, 26 Jun. During that time all of DTS will be busy with conference duties.

I'm also running into this issue, would love to see a resolution soon :).

Is there any update to this?

We too are experiencing this issue where it takes seconds to show the call reporting extension view.
In addition, during this delay, if a user taps multiple times, it seems to cause a crash and simply not render the call reporting extension.
I can’t speak for the others on this thread but looking at the bug referenced earlier, FB7739788, there’s no new info to share on that front.

There’s two parts to that:
  • Technical

  • Business

I can only comment on the technical side, and there I don’t think you need to do anything. Last I checked the iOS Engineering team is able to reproduce the problem.
