External Accessory Deprecated?

Will the External accessory get deprecated, or is it deprecated now?

Please reply as the same features are not provided by CoreBluetooth, when connecting with Bluetooth Classic devices.

On the doc, it is not deprecated.

What we read is that Lightning connector is here to stay for some time (installed base more than 1 Bn devices). Not the same for the 30 pin connector for sure.

Which features specifically are of concern ?

Note: you should probably move this post to the Drivers and Devices section: https://forums.developer.apple.com/community/core-os/drivers-and-device-access

No one can answer that. You can divide all of humanity into two sets:

  • Those who know something about the future of the EA framework (A).

  • Those who don’t (B).

Those in set B (and that includes me) can only speculate. Those in set A are not allowed to discuss The Future™ here on DevForums.

is it deprecated now?

No.

Judging from the non-existent response to feedback reports about EA, it doesn't look like anyone is still working on EA. Then again, the debug output has changed in iOS 17, so that would suggest otherwise… Together with the iPhone moving to USB-C connectors, the future seems pretty uncertain.
