Can I get Xcode on a older MacBook?

I just started coding and I want to make a app! I was wondering if I could download and run Xcode on a Macbook 13.3" 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo White. - Apple Computer MA700LL/A. This is a refurbished MacBook because I can't afford a new MacBook. Thanks!

You may find and install a very old Xcode which runs on Leopard.

Which is not supported now and apps made with such an old tool will notrun on an actual devices neither you cannot submit apps to the App Store.

If you want tocreate apps which run on actual devices, do get a Mac which can run Mavericks or later.

What Operating system do I need to download and run Xcode

Well, it supports OS X 10.7.5, if the ram is maxed - that means Lion, but no 64-bit support. I think Xcode version 4.6.3 is the latest compatible with Lion.

What do you want to do if you get Xcode running?

I want to make an app for teachers... Thats my first app.

So I can get Lion, snow Leopard, and Leopard?

If by app, you mean an iOS app for the App Store - the minimum Xcode required for submittal to the store today is 5.1.1, so that computer won't work for you.

Honestly, that computer is much too old and restrictive for your needs, I think. I would keep looking.

Alright, last thing...

You can change the OS to Leopard.

Could I run Xcode on this MacBook?

Thanks for all your help!!!

Not and do what you want to do.

?

You asked a question "Could I run Xcode on this MacBook?"

My reply was "Not and do what you want to do." Seems clear enough.

If you're the type that keeps asking the same question when they don't get the answer they want to hear, I can't help, sorry.

Any current Mac will do what you want. It should be no surprise that those machines don't come cheap given the demand. I can sympathize with anyone on a budget, but you $till need to $pend money...electricity, de$k, internet, $oftware, dev account, etc. It's up to you to find a way to get those resources. Set your goal, then focus on that goal and work it out. Don't spend your time and effort trying to avoid the obvious.

Alright KMT, thanks for helping...And sorry for wasting your time

Just didn't understand but now I do. Sorry I kept on asking. Wasn't trying to be one of those people.

It's kinda hard to find a extra $1k just laying around when you are 13 So I do need to avoid the obvious.

So I'm trying to find another way to get my buissness app on the stores.

I will find a way.

Again sorry for wasting your time...

There you go. Others in your position have done just that and I'm certain you can too.

Good luck.
