How much free space on your boot drive?

That's barely enough for macOS to tread water alone.
Do the math:
- Swap space for macOS: 8 ~ 12 GB
- Download: 5 GB
- Unpack: 6 GB
- Install: 6 GB

............ right around 30 gb free space needed, all at the same time.
You'll need -several- tens of GB free. Be sure to empty the trash when you start throwing stuff away.
