xcodebuild and command line builds for Catalyst/UIKit for Mac?

I cannot see thios documented anywhere — has anyine figured our how to use xcodebuild to build a propject for UIKIt for Mac (ie Catalyst)?

You can specify "-sdk iphoneos" vs "-sdk iphonesimulator" top toggle bertween those two targets, but "-sdk uikitformac" does not seem to work ("SDK not found"), despite Xcode itself using that nomenclature (e.g., it builds to a "Debug-uikitformac" folder, etc). i also tried different SDK values that might have made sense (such as "-ssk macabi"), but no avail.

Suggestions?

Glad you found your answer!

Since Mac Catalina and Xcode 11 have not been released yet, 1) there aren't a lot of folks using it yet, relatively, and 2) there are Apple venues (not these forums!) for reporting errors and providing feedback on beta releases. Most folks on these forums probably aren't going to comment on beta software here on the chance it will all change at the next beta release.

If it's useless, don't visit!

what, pray tell, would be the proper place for beta questions/discussions/sorting-out-developer-problems, if not this forum?

Surely you're not suggesting "file a radar"?

The truth is, someone answered the question on stackoverflow and not on these forums (also, notice the almost 2 months that passed with no responses). This is pretty common. The fact that the software is beta affects stackOverflow just as much as here.

There are entire sections of this forum dedicated to beta software - it's just a ghost town.

We can certainly attempt to do our part to improve these forums by answering questions when we can, but I fear it's futile.

>just a ghost town.

Keep in mind that SO is well moderated, where devForums is wide open to anyone with an appleID, dead battery, buyer remorse and an opinion.

Also note that apple engrs. seem to prefer SO.

"it's just a ghost town."

exactly what i meant. the forum is buggy and unsable, the software is pathetic for Apple standards (compare it to say the Swift forums). For ecample, the "Activity|Following" tells me i'm not following any posts, though i am. Content|Following shows them 🏼♀. I can never remember which one to check first to et back to my posts. Every two days, i'm logged out when i get back to the forums (and when i find a thread, log in to participate, i'm back at the root, the thread lost). Half the times i cannot post replies, the editor is just dead. Not to mention the editor is from 1993 and doesnt even, say, allow markdown.

Using this forum is death by a thousand papercuts *and* usually yields zero reward in terms iof getting useful infos.

It's a visious cycle of course. it's a pain to use, so no-one uses it, so no-one replies. so no-one excepts replies. so no-one uses it.

it's patetic, for the offical/main developer community of a platform of Aples statue. Sorry to be blunt.

My favorite thread today. 👍
