Update: rolled back to macOS Sonoma (14.7), tethered capture through USB works flawlessly again with Lightroom Classic; the crash/disfunctionality under Sequoia is definitely a problem with the new OS working with Lightroom Classic (everything was updated to the newest version, including the camera firmwares).
