Adding a Mac-specific version to existing "Designed for iPad" app
I have an existing app in the iOS App Store that is "Designed for iPad" and is visible and purchasable in the M1 Mac App Store. Customers who buy the app can install on all their iOS and M1 App devices with that single purchase. I am thinking of adding a Mac Catalyst version (i.e an M1/Intel Universal App) to this product so that Intel Macs can run it too. I know that I can add such a build to my existing product in App Store Connect by clicking the "Plus" icon in the left column and selecting "Mac App". My question is: If I do this, will it cause any confusion or difficulties for my existing customers who have already purchased and installed on their M1 Macs? If I understand correctly, this would cause the App Store to stop showing the "Designed for iPad" version in the Mac App Store, even on M1 Macs. Will those customers be able to switch to the Mac-only version without confusion? Will they be notified of this new version, or notified when I later publish an update? Or will they still be able to use the "Designed for iPad" version they now have and get updates to that version (even though it won't appear in App Store search results for Mac)? And just to be certain: if I do this, will it still be a single purchase for all platforms, or will it require separate purchases for iOS vs. Mac?

Build or run Mac Catalyst apps on Intel Mac?
I have successfully built an app using Mac Catalyst. It runs on iPhone, iPad, and M1 Macs, and is available now in the App Store as "Designed for iPad". So far, so good. But it's not available for Intel-based Macs, and I haven't been able to build a version that will run on Intel. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it? And with regard to the App Store, if I do it can I update my existing app to include the Intel-capable version, or does that have to be a separate purchase? I've been through all the Apple and third-party doc I can find, but couldn't find anything useful. Grateful for any advice!
