I have also confirmed SpringBoard which appears to be associated with the iOS simulator is "Preventing Sleep" according to activity monitor.
This has led to quite a bit of additional power consumption overnight that I had failed to realize for quite some time (until getting a keyboard with LEDs that i noticed never turned off until quitting the simulator and letting the computer sleep)
