same thing here. I've had 41Gb free space and anyway been forced to delete XCode & reboot before XCode upgrade agreed to download. it is maddening

It's a pitty you didn't read completely, otherwise you'd know that I also can install Xcode without a problem
The nuance is first I need to free 1/3 of my 128GB Mac storage, or the installer will abort with "Not enough free space"
So I'm curious why while the package itself occupies about 10GB after install, the installer demands more than 40Gb of free space to start

Sure, many people have installed Xcode without a problem, as I had before, but many also haven't (please ask Google "xcode install not enough space" to assess the scope)
