XCode installer gigantomania
Hi guys Just a few days ago I've at least found the way to install freshest release of XCode, and I assure you this maddening experience has been for me like really thorny squash through the b**t to examine tonsils from inside I'm happy owner of MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017, 8Gb RAM, 128GB storage), and I really love it, Apple devices are undoubtely cool and worth every cent just because of the ease of use. Developed for humans, OS X never ever put me stumped, it doesn't demand anything from me, it just works. It's been a long time idyll, no complaints for last 10 years, and it could go on for ages, but one fly in the ointment nowadays ruines everything I'm oldschool web developer, and my code beeing plain text never require no extra capacity. The only huge thing are my own media from iPhone and iPad auto backuped for years, but since lion's share of these shots are amateur raw mess not of public interest - many of you probably also collect the same garbage "just because" - I keep my shots untouched in the far away cloud, uploaded and forgotten. So 128GB storage for me is overcapasity, and about 1/4 of volume always stays empty Seems these ~30GB of space should fit any requirements, but not for XCode installer. It keeps to yell "Not enough free space" and shutdown on each try, but that's not the last straw yet. Between installation attempts installer also keeps to remind it requires update - and that's the last straw indeed On last upgrade a few days ago I've been forced to remove XCode from system completely to obtain extra ~10Gb of free space, but 40GB also failed to impress the installer. To update XCode I've also been forced to revise in depth home folder and drop some obsoleted stuff. Moreover, I've wiped system logs and removed 2 or 3 unused apps from Application folder, trying to install XCode with no success after each step of this dictated spring cleaning So I've had enough of this negative expirience, unexpected from Apple at all and thus extra accentuated. And only when indicator of free space overpassed 43GB, XCode installer took pity on me and lauched the upgrade routine Again, this savage shamanism with a tambourine happened only a few days ago, the memories are still fresh. But today I've faced new reminder to upgrade XCode to the last actual build released 10/20/2020, and now the cybernightmare returns I've even felt some deja vu - this time I also have all the same ~30GB of free space, and XCode installer in turn keeps his "Not enough free space" mantra. What d'ya think, guys, am I going to seek out extra free space by bits and pieces again this time? NO WAY. Cosplaying squirrel in a wheel on each next XCode release once and again definitely is defeatist strategy, I'll better keep XCode outdated as long as possible That's all, sorry for the long story. Thanks everyone for the time spent on reading this Shame on you, T*m C**k, Steve Jobs would never allow such trash to happen
