Not yet, but I am thinking that is what I will try as I look to rewrite the navigation structure to work around this.

Apple Developer Forums admins can mark replies as Apple Recommended to indicate an approved solution

Did you use a Navigation stack instead? Documentation on split views is pretty limited if you want to do anything beyond the basic implementation. Even just to say "don't do it".
