When I selected a function to find the call hierarchy, it did't work. Anybody know how to fix it?

I want to do some transition in my APP, like ripple effect. I can use the public API of CATransition like kCATransitionFade, kCATransitionMoveIn and so on. I want to use ripple effect, but it's private api. why apple do not open all kinds of effects?
